Today, I watched Stephen Spielberg’s masterpiece, “The Bloody One Hundredth”.
It tells the story the United States Army Airforce 100th Bomber Group, the military unit that lost the most personnel of all who served in the U.S. Armed Forces of the United States during World War II.
I am glad today that none of the men (and women) who served in the 100th, are still alive as I’m sure they would be sickened by what they see their country going through at the present.
Their President, the man responsible for protecting America and the descendant’s of those men, many who sacrificed their lives in defence of democracy and the fight against fascism, is himself, nothing more than a fascist.
He, Donald J. Trump has made a mockery of their lives and effort to save the world from the horrors that killed somewhere between 70 and 100 million lives in WWII.
He has ushered in fascism to the United States of America, without a shot being fired.
A man so devoid of honour, that on five occasions he chose to flee serving his country.
A man so dishonourable that he has attacked American heroes, who became prisoners of war.
A man convicted as a felon, a rapist, a pathological liar, a traitor to democracy, a racist, a misogynist, a xenophobic coward who hates his own people is now their “Commander in Chief”.
At no time in American history has America itself been more despised by the world at large.
Through the actions of their President, America has aided the enemies of democracy, sided with demagogues, fascists, plutocrats, autocrats and kleptocrats.
It has turned against its own people, even sending the U.S. military against its own citizens.
The Federal Government of the United States of America has lost all respect with its former allies, friends and neighbours.
Today, America also, cannot be depended upon. It attacks its neighbours and former allies with tariffs and threats of annexation or economic sanctions and deprivation.
It sides with Russia and its sociopathic leader, Putin, seeking to end the war in favour of Russia, while it leaves its former allies to a future conflict directly in Europe. A Europe that America fought to protect and where so many Americans died.
To the families, descendants and those who love freedom, democracy and the rule of law, Donald J. Trump is the enemy.
Until he is swept from existence on this planet and his legacy expunged, America will forever be known as a nation that voted to destroy its own democracy.
To the families and descendant’s of all Americans who lost loved ones in the fight against fascism and tyranny, I am sorry for your loss.
There are many who do remember.
