My name is Ken McMullen, MPA, BA, Dip. Public Administration,
and I’m a retired Fire Chief from Western Canada and an avid photographer for 50 years. Starting in film, I had a processing lab for custom work and ran a photographic studio business until the digital world made film, not redundant, but more expensive and less in demand.
This blog is not divided between my political interests, travel, motorcycling or photography. You will find my political articles are usually farther down the list of articles, primarily because my specific political viewpoint may not be your cup of tea. However, my academic background in strategic studies often leads me to political commentary. If it isn’t your particular persuasion or belief, feel free to disregard. My comments are not meant to anger, target or create conflict. In fact, my hope is that by expressing what I believe are real issues, one might find a place for rational and reasonable discourse.
Of course this requires each party to let go of preconceived ideas and opinions. Understandably, that can be difficult, but necessary if any intelligent discourse is to take place. But enough about politics.
In 2006, my interest in digital photography took off in earnest as I lived adjacent to the Rocky Mountains of Alberta, British Columbia, Washington, and Idaho. I began marketing some of my work at https://fineartamerica.com/profiles/ken-mcmullen. At the same time, my interest in motorcycles returned after a lengthy absence, due mostly to the demands of being a Director of Emergency Services/Fire Chief for a large fire service. In addition, I attended University from 1994 to 2006 while completing my B.A. and working towards my M.P.A. I taught college management studies for two institutions in Canada, part-time, one via in-class instruction, and the other, by Web Instruction.
I finally retired in 2018, and have found both the time and enthusiasm to pursue my (now four avocations of, digital photography, videography, marksmanship and sport touring motorcycling. I am in the process of creating both a vlog and blog in support of these interests. You will find the links to those on this site, below.
