If You’re Looking for a Sport Tourer This Should Definitely Be On Your List

Up here in Western Canada, new 2024 motorcycles are finally beginning to flow into dealerships. One of the motorcycles that I must admit has always appealed to me was Moto Guzzi.

One can’t but be impressed at first blush with the Mandello. It is simply a beautiful motorcycle. Moto Guzzi is a company with more than 100 years of history in producing motorcycles, and it shows.

First, the V100 Liquid-cooled 90-degree longitudinally mounted V-twin is a striking design. Named not just for its displacement of 1,042cc but for Moto Guzzi’s 100 years of production, the motorcycle puts out 115 hp at 8700 rpm combined with 77 lb-ft. of torque. The engine is Euro 5 compliant, has shaft drive, and weighs in at 514 lbs.

The Mandello has a full suite of electronic aids, a nicely laid out TFT screen, and four rider modes. The windscreen is not large, and the seat height is great for those vertically challenged types like myself at 815mm. Seating on the bike, I found it to be great, comfortable, and wide although as I have a leg inseam of just 30 inches, for taller riders it might seem a bit sporty.

As for the suspension, I won’t know until I ride it. The forks are adjustable for pre-load and rebound damping, and the rear shock has an external pre-load adjuster. The bike feels very balanced and with Pirelli Angel GTII tires, along with the Brembo twin 320 mm discs and 4-piston monobloc radial caliper, likely stops on a dime. The rear brake is a 280 mm single disc, 2-piston caliper.

The Guzzi also has cornering lights, ABS, Traction control, cruise control, four riding modes, and an electronically adjustable windscreen. At $17,990 in Canada plus $1200 for Freight, PDI, and HST, not cheap. I will be providing a complete review of the bike and video, which will have to wait until the snow is completely gone.

Personally, at first glance, the bike is attractive, maybe even beautiful, as the fit, finish, color, and paint are remarkable. It reminded me of how I felt upon viewing my 02 VFR 800f. I was blown away by both. In Canada, it comes with a 2-year warranty.

Thanks to Dan McLeod at Adventure Power Products in Iles de Chene, Maniitoba. I’ve already arranged for a complete roadtest at the earliest opportunity. And thanks to MCNews.Com.Au for the photos.
