Project 25 – A Blueprint for Autocracy
Most of us who vote in western democracies, I hope, do so on the basis of information as knowledge. But what I’m discovering, is that Republicans, by and large, do not. Most cannot identify the principle aims of Project 25, the far-right ‘playbook’ for the deconstruction of democratic institutions and the rights of Americans writ-large.
Project 25, a Heritage Foundation, extreme right-wing Christian organization, that will willfully deny ‘all’ Americans any of the rights they currently possess, and for which a million Americans died defending, is designed specifically to create and enshrine a conservative Christian nationalist plan leading to autocracy.
It further proposes deploying the military for domestic law enforcement!
It plans for trump, (should he succeed, or not be removed from the Presidential office, by other means) to take partisan control of the Department of Justice, FBI, Department of Commerce, and the FTC.
It calls for the dismantling of the DHS (Department of Homeland Security) and the abolishment of the Department of Education. It further calls for the NIH or National Institutes of Health to stop funding stem cell research and reduce or eliminate funding for climate change. It essentially means to ignore the effects of fossil fuel mining, drilling, fugitive emissions and fracking to the environment and CO2 emissions.
It calls for mass deportations of illegal immigrants, invoking protectionism, reinstitution of capital punishment and the termination of diversity, equity and inclusion programs. It will seek to cut Medicare and Medicaid and rejects abortion as health care. It essentially seeks an end to civil liberties and will have the DOJ prosecute anti-white (and only anti-white racism),
It aims to end the separation of church and state and create a fundamentalist Christian autocracy.
In effect, it will turn America into a racist, religious autocracy, where women have few, if any rights, and where they are essentially chattel for their husbands. It will return America to a time when white men could abuse and use all others without the fear of intervention by the law, the courts or by public policy.
It will be identical to Islamic Fundamentalist autocracies, except this one will be a Christian fundamentalist theocracy.
Christian? They make a mockery of Christianity. They, being the Right-Wing Evangelical Christian minority in America, support a presidential candidate devoid of morals, ethics, truth, empathy, reason, scientific understanding, rationality or intelligence. Their intended leader is a coward and convicted rapist.
Those who vote for trump, again if he succeeds will become subjects, rather than citizens. Essentially trump will follow the playbook of every dictator in the last century, with the pretence of ‘political reform’. He will create a system where brute force, coercion, abuse and threats pervade, and where the organs of power manipulate and control any resistance, ultimately using force to suppress dissension as deemed necessary. No recourse will exist as the courts will simply house trump appointed justices (?), an oxymoron in any rational man’s books.
If trump is elected I can foresee a time of turmoil and civil unrest that will likely develop into the secession of states from America and Civil War.
What other choice will rational actors have?
None, – simply because trump and his minions will never compromise, and can never be trusted.
For those Americans who love democracy, there is only one answer tomorrow, and that is to reject authoritarianism and vote. Anything else will lead to catastrophe and a future wholly chaotic and dangerous. It will also, if trump wins, be the last fair election in the United States.
