This last week, Trump met with Bezos, Zuckerberg and Musk. Each of them bent the knee and kissed the ring, and as a token of fealty, paid a million dollars to the Lord of the Lies, for which they there given permission to in effect, further and enable Trump’s lies, disinformation and misinformation on their sites.
There will be no more fact checking, no determinations are to be made as to the validity, even the rationality of claims made on their sites. It was the final act in the burial of truth, reason, rationality and logic amongst the former mainstream social media sites.
The King of the Lie simply can’t have his life disinformation, misinformation and alternate facts, disproved every time he opens his facial orifice. How would it be possible for an autocrat, kleptocrat and sociopath to maintain any semblance of authority and acceptance if his coat of lies and armour of arrogance were to be disproven every time he made a statement? In order for him to continue to brainwash those either unable, unwilling or mentally incapable of differentiating fact from fiction it became essential to change the rules, and legitimize the diatribe of lies.
The only way to contest lies is not through silence or ignoring them. For those interested in facts and truth, is to necessary to either eliminate or disprove the source of disinformation, at least in relation to the carrier of the messages. Trump’s unending stream of verbal diarrhea and drivel cannot be stopped, but the mouthpiece for this disinformation can, hence, the removal of Instagram, Meta, Facebook and X.
For those of us who know what a responsible, ethical, moral and honest media actually is, the continuous stream of ‘alternate facts’ as Magan’s call their lies, doesn’t affect any of us who have been trained or lived amongst honest, responsible journalists. It has only been since the arrival of the internet and social networks that hook the simple and weak minded, that lies, misinformation and disinformation has flourished.
Trump can certainly retain LieSocial, as his Maggots are funding that source of disinformation, but his influence there is minimal as it only reaches the echo chamber of ignorance. By creating social media sites where truth, its veracity and information is continually and voraciously tested for its factual content, – this is the mechanism to prove that lies are indeed lies. Continuous testing of data, at least by those intelligent enough to actually seek the truth and do their own research, gathering data, analyzing it, testing their assertions and assumptions and then seeking proof by the replication of those facts, place lies under the light of examination.
New platforms that require facts and legitimation of information through proof of the claims being made, is the only recourse. Silence is simply enabling the lies. Trump and Bannon’s play book has been used by autocrats and dictators for many years, and Hitler was the best example of its ability to sway the weak and the willfully gullible and ignorant.
Whenever there is doubt, it is essential to test by asking, who benefits? When you apply the scientific methodology to the development of information that is preferred as fact, it enables a determination to be made that will stand analysis and inquisition, unlike the continuous stream of drivel being espoused by Trump and his ilk.
Be an inquirer of the truth, and call out lies. Never remain silent, because it is the silence that enables and motivates the lies.
