This week Google proved that they are not worth using. Trump has applied pressure on the owners of Google, to rename the Gulf of Mexico, to Gulf of America, or some such nonsense. What it tells me, is that “Google” itself, is no longer of value. To sell out to a sociopath because of his narcissism and arrogance, is ludicrous, asinine, childish and will soon make Google itself, immaterial. If at Google, facts are ‘for sale’, then essentially Google is of no inherent value.
Google is a search engine, that will no longer seek to find the facts. They can be bought and will then replace ‘facts’. So they have no value, which tells me that Google, has no value.
The entire world knows the Gulf of Mexico. Regardless what trump and Google call it, — outside the land of lunacy, we will call it the Gulf of Mexico.
Attempting to change the name of a international body of water based on the whim of a narcissistic kleptocrat is beyond ludicrous. It illustrates to me that ‘facts’ in America, are simply irrelevant, and of no value.
I have already changed my news feeds for information, and the inclusion of facts, to come from the BBC, and foreign sources, where there is still, I believe some truth. Truth is not subjective, — nor should it be. Truth are facts, requiring no interpretation, no subjectivity.
From now on, I will call the Gulf of Mexico, the Gulf of Narcissism, when referencing it to Americans, and — Florida shall forever be known as the Land of Lunacy, while America, shall simply be called what it is, ‘Fuckedland’.
I am also going to delete Google. I will use another search engine, one that does not change ‘facts’, based on who is willing to pay for them.
America is quickly losing its values, ethics and truth. It is a place that has little relevance to those who value democracy and honourable conduct.
The only relevance it has now, is one of danger. A place where we who are not American do now wish to visit, trade with, or in fact, care to know, other than to stay informed as to the risks it poses to everyone who resides outside of it.
In March of 2016, Jill Lepore wrote an article entitled, “After the Fact”. In that article she spoke of her, and Michael P. Lynchs’ perceived threat to our capacity to reason. It it she writes,
“Michael P. Lynch is a philosopher of truth. His fascinating new book, “The Internet of Us: Knowing More and Understanding Less in the Age of Big Data,” begins with a thought experiment: “Imagine a society where smartphones are miniaturized and hooked directly into a person’s brain.” As thought experiments go, this one isn’t much of a stretch. (“Eventually, you’ll have an implant,” Google’s Larry Page has promised, “where if you think about a fact it will just tell you the answer.”) Now imagine that, after living with these implants for generations, people grow to rely on them, to know what they know and forget how people used to learn—by observation, inquiry, and reason. Then picture this: overnight, an environmental disaster destroys so much of the planet’s electronic-communications grid that everyone’s implant crashes. It would be, Lynch says, as if the whole world had suddenly gone blind. There would be no immediate basis on which to establish the truth of a fact. No one would really know anything anymore, because no one would know how to know. I Google, therefore I am not.
She further states,
“Lynch thinks we are frighteningly close to this point: blind to proof, no longer able to know. After all, we’re already no longer able to agree about how to know. (See: climate change, above.) Lynch isn’t terribly interested in how we got here. He begins at the arrival gate. But altering the flight plan would seem to require going back to the gate of departure.“
The problem today is that the ‘era of the fact’, is coming to an end.
Lynch suggests that, “Without a common background of standards against which we measure what counts as a reliable source of information, or a reliable method of inquiry, and what doesn’t, we won’t be able to agree on the facts, let alone values.“
And that is the crux of the issue. Today, it is as though one half of America speaks an entirely different language, one so unintelligible that those who reside amongst them who do not, neither can, or wish to find some means of interpretation.
Add to that, a man who deliberately, maliciously and vehemently denigrates the ‘language of the other’, to support his own lies, and you now have the language of America.
America speaks, American.
I have, in the past actually heard a person suggest to a foreigner that he speak, “American”.
I now have all the knowledge necessary to differentiate “American” from English.
Good luck “Americans” conveying rationality, reason and intelligent discourse to your masses, for they simply don’t speak the language.
They have no ability to discern what is true, factual or rational.
They have been co-opted into ignorance, a state of willful obedience to a man so ignorant and narcissistic that he is incapable of reason, truth or speaking either.
