“At the 2024 Washington Summit, Allied Leaders announced a Pledge of Long-Term Security Assistance for Ukraine. Allies agreed to provide 40 billion Euros a year to Ukraine, through proportional contributions. The actual amount exceeded 50 billion Euros.
And, as of February, 2025, 29 allies and partners have signed bilateral security agreements with Ukraine, giving Ukraine enduring security commitments.“

At present, the impediment to Ukraine becoming a member of NATO, is two fold, Hungary, and the United States.
There is actually no impediment to Ukraine becoming a full member of NATO. All that stops NATO’s membership is the will to make it so. Consensus is the mechanism required, but not admitting Ukraine now simply means that NATO would have to stand up to the United States, who at the present time appear to not have either NATO’s or Ukraine’s interest at heart.
Trump is more concerned with appealing to Putin, and has shown, repeatedly, that he will sell NATO out to Russia in order to meet his own twisted expectations.
NATO should hold a secret ballot that is binding on all parties to admit Ukraine to NATO for immediate and complete membership.
The existing lines of demarcation that exist between Russia and Ukraine should see the placement of NATO troops alongside Ukrainian brigades, and a formal statement submitted to Moscow, that reads,
“Any further military attacks or incursions by Russia on Sovereign Ukrainian soil will result in a state of war existing between Russia and NATO.”
If Putin wants war, then he should have it, however NATO should not stop attacking Russian forces until such time as they completely withdraw from Ukrainian soil prior to Russia’s incursion and annexation of Crimea.
NATO troops should remain in Ukraine, forward deployed with enough munitions, equipment and manpower to meet and defeat any incursion by Russia in the future.
This is the only rational answer to Putin’s war of aggression.
America, should remove its forces from Europe and return them to the United States, and a new EDF, or European Defence Force should be created for permanent deployment in Ukraine, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia and Poland.
Sweden’s defence forces should see forward deployment in Finland and Canada should commit to a rapid militarization and increase in the Canadian Armed Forces, including conscription for 18 year olds for one year.
Canada should deploy two brigades to the Baltic States and commit naval forces to the Black Sea and Bearing Sea as part of either EDF or NATO.
There will be no peace without commitment and strength.
As for America? It cannot, and should not be trusted ever again, as it seems to be working against the interests of the EU and Canada.
