“Vaccination? Oh no thanks. I Take Vitamin A.”

I’m so glad that the trump administration has the most talented people with the best training in their field making decisions. I have a close friend who is a virologist. He’s not only one of the best in his field, he teaches in his ‘off hours’ at the medical school where I attended university. This week I had to let him know that according to the trump administration in the U.S., he has spent his whole career, wasting his talents.

“You know Gary, you should never have gone to medical school. Why did you spend 15 years of your life becoming one of the best virologists in the country?”

“Excuse me?” He said a bit querulously.

“Well, you know, I was watching TV the other day, and RFK stated that all people needed to do was eat right and take Vitamin A. I mean, If it had been me, I would have just hung out a shingle and gone to work.”

His odd look turned into a smile.

“Yeah, I’m not sure myself.” He said.

“I would just have an office with a counter that displayed Vitamin C, and Vitamin A. But my special formulation would provide protection against HIV, Hantavirus, Measles …even Ebola. You could charge $500 bucks a dose and you’d make more than you made last year, plus you wouldn’t have had to spend a million dollars on your education.”

“What can I tell you,” he said. “I suppose some of us are just a little dense.”

Then he said,

“I’m going in to have a look at a little girl who has encephalitis later today. I suppose I’ll have to stop by the health store and pick some up.”

I looked at him will all seriousness, and said.

“Are you sure?”

“Maybe you should drop by McDonald’s and have an antiviral Big Mac before you head to the hospital. You never can be too sure. You probably need some ‘health food? Make sure your get the double order of fries, you can never be too sure.”

Ahhh….medicine.

I just don’t know what all the fuss is about.
