Canada’s Foreign Threat – The New Reality for the Future.

Now that the U.S. is actually a foreign threat to Canada, it’s time to disassociate our relationship with the U.S.. And to that end, Canada should, as Portugal has just done, cancel its military procurement plans with the United States.

First and foremost, cancel the F – 35 fighter contract with the U.S.

The Portuguese Defence Minister stated, “The recent position of the United States forces us to consider the best options because the predictability of our allies is a greater value to take into account.”

While no contract was in place, this snuffed out any possibility of a future contract. French Rafales or the Eurofighter keep popping up in the rumour mill as replacements for the F – 35.

As for Canada, while a contract exists for 88 F – 35’s, pressure is now being exerted to cancel the order and proceed with the second choice of the procurement process, Sweden’s Gripen E fighters.

What is highly likely, considering Canada’s relationship with the U.S., is that any and all future acquisitions, which will amount to literally hundreds of billions of dollars for submarines, tanks, IFV’s, artillery, drones, helicopters, etc., will not come from the U.S.

This comes as no surprise as Canada is aligning itself with Europe and as such, will seek integration of military technologies and communications systems whether in the air or on the ground. NATO, with a European lean and with support for Ukraine is Canada’s future and its ally. It is absolutely important to note that America is not an ally of Canada, and will not be in the foreseeable future.

Canada will strike its own military future and develop a much larger footprint militarily, as the threat environment, with the U.S. to the south is now a clear and present danger. Canada will increase the size of the Canadian military to around 200,000 personnel, two brigades of which will be stationed in Lithuania.

Canada’s decision to build a fleet of 12 new submarines, the CPSP program, means that they will come either from Korea, Sweden, Germany, France or Japan, as the final determinations for procurement are being made now.

Uniquely for Canada, these submarines may be either cruise missile launch capable of ballistic missile launch capable, with the possibility of a mix of the two designs. All new submarines with be conventional and non-nuclear, however they will utilize AIP or air independent propulsion systems which will allow the submarines to remain immersed under ice for up to three weeks.

Make no mistake.

The threat to. Canadian sovereignty resides to our south, not our north. As such, there is virtually no possibility of a military rapprochement with the U.S., nor is one wanted.
