America has succeeded in cutting itself off from the rest of the world. Congratulations.
Trump…acting like the soup nazi from Seinfeld, has our attention.
For Canadians, that means we lose access to the American market of 330 million people.
That only leaves us with 7.7 Billion people to trade with.
Okay, you win.
We’re diversifying and we won’t look back.
No oil, no fertilizers, no critical minerals, and in the future, no water.
Not since Covid has the world had to deal with a viral threat, that for many of us, changed the way we do business, how we interact and with whom.
Trump has managed to do that, but worse, in three days.
The problem is simple.
With Covid we found a vaccine.
For Trump?
There is no hope. He is a human pathogen that can be fatal to the world economy, to human health, to reason, to intelligent discourse, and… there is no cure.
At least no legal one.
Congress has the right to set tariffs, or to revoke them.
The question is simple.
Do America’s leaders in Congress have the guts to do what they should have done before Trump put his tariff stupidity into practice?
So, maybe after America actually dives into a deep recession, Congress will have the intelligence to act.
But, it isn’t likely.
The koolaid still flows, and the right-wing Magans still haven’t found themselves unemployed or lost their house, — but it’s coming.
Trump, who doesn’t give a shit about you or America, is waiting to extort nations. He will be willing to do to all of the nations, what he tried to do to Ukraine.
Pay me, and I’ll consider lowering the tariffs.
Well Mr. Extortionist. Canadians don’t play that game.
We’re simply willing to cut off America, harden the border and move on.
The fact is, this is extortion, pure and simple.
There is no strategy, except to shake-down the world economy, and pick up whatever falls out their pockets.
But this time, the world outside of America is going to stick together, at least those that matter.
And in the end, America will have succeeded in isolating itself entirely.
No trade partners, no allies, no friends.
And worst for America?
We are going to create the Euro as the international reserve currency.
America, will have to pay its debt.
And once that happens?
America’s fate is sealed.
And might I add, the world won’t even blink an eye.
Goodbye America.
