America is a predator and no other nations partner.
It lives in a surreal world, fifty years past.
His zero-sum bully attitude to the world is exacerbated by his ignorance.
America today is infinitely richer than it was fifty years ago, yet the baby-boomers of America ‘feel’ they are somehow poorer, and for some of course, this may well be true.
America’s mismanagement of the banking system created the bust of 2008, which may well have left some late stage boomers poorer, without the ability to rebuild their wealth before an impending retirement.
But Americans by and large have moved away from manufacturing, simply because it was uneconomical to do so. America will not find its wealth manufacturing consumables. First, the infrastructure and supply chains no longer exist, but more importantly the American worker will simply not settle for wages that are as low as would be necessary to actually be able to sell American manufactured consumable products.
The other giant elephant in the room is the value of the American dollar. For Americans to produce consumable products in the United States and reshore old technological processes would mean that the costs for those products would likely double.
Is that what America wants?
Is that the answer for the next generation, working in a manufacturing plant producing shoes or clothing.
I think not.
Americans have become, to cut to the chase, greedy, and to some extent, lazy.
There is substantive anger in the U.S. against immigration and immigrants.
Why?
Because Americans feel that they are being disenfranchised, that somehow immigrants are taking away employment and its opportunities.
The reality is suggests that this is a complete lie.
Migration around the world is often caused by opportunity for those with either exceptional skills, or those without any real skills, seeking a better future.
Americans are angered that some of the best jobs in America are going to educated people’s from other countries.
But what does this suggest about America itself?
If those successful immigrants, entrepreneurs or scientists and professionals ‘are’ more qualified, then it behooves America to address why that it is the case.
As for those seeking economic opportunity, the vast majority of these people are performing jobs that American don’t want to do.
Farm workers, factory workers, childcare, etc., are not positions that Americans wish to aspire to. A recent documentary suggested that a dairy farm worker in Wisconsin sees 99 out of 100 positions filled by immigrants, many, undocumented.
Yet Americans denigrate and target these same individuals, yet have no interest in doing the work.
Americans have become entitled, spoiled and angry that they are provided opportunities, even though they have no right to expect such behaviour.
Trump, has played into a populist lie, that immigrants are the problem. They are Not.
America’s inability to recognize that its own greed, especially of the 1% has created a mindset that is mostly fabrication, not fact.
But facts are now eschewed by America.
“Don’t tell us facts, we have belief.”
This asinine statement symbolizes what is wrong with America, or at least a good portion of America’s population.
Truth doesn’t matter, Facts don’t matter, Science doesn’t matter.
Meanwhile, Trump is intent on destroying the checks and balances that institutionally exist to maintain both stasis and efficacy in the U.S.
The courts, the FBI, the Attorney General and the Department of Justice are all becoming extensions of Trump’s personal control and use.
His retributive nature, supported by a GOP that is both gutless and beholding to a soon-to-be dictator, should chill every American to the bone.
Instead they cheer his larceny, his greed, his excess and his lies.
Failure is Probable
Unfortunately for Trump, the world is unwilling to be extorted.
Canada and Mexico, his first intended victims, were signatories to agreements that Trump himself signed, calling them the “Best Trade Agreements Ever”.
Yet now, with his predatory Komodo dragon eyes fixed on the steal, Trump intends on extorting nations or destroying them economically.
Trump has not taken into consideration that, for the world, there is a counter-weight, irrespective of its political system.
Trade with the world’s 7.7 billion peoples, including blocks in Asia, the Pacific Rim, Europe and South America offer alternatives to American aggression and its extortion attempts.
Canada’s vast resources are desired around the world.
And just since Trump’s foray into wishful piracy, Canada has inked new trade agreements and resource supply to all of them.
Canada Thought it Had a Partner: It Was Wrong
So, in turn, Canada is now moving out of America’s sphere of influence, in every way possible. From trade to military alliance, Canada is disconnecting from America.
Canada has the resources, both human and material to be a global leader in trade. Rather than 75% of its resources to America, Canada will now send at least 75% of its resources in the future to Europe and the far east.
Canada respects relationships, not coercion and threats.
America is no partner.
America is no friend.
America is no ally, and cannot be depended on.
Therefore Canada is actively seeking to engage Europe, the U.K., Japan, Korea and China in all of its future trade and military procurement programs.
And Canada is militarizing.
It will double its military budget and, in time, double the force structure of the military. If that requires conscription, that too will be on the table.
Canada isn’t asking for America to protect it.
In fact, Canada wants to seek a comprehensive protection for Canadian sovereignty, especially in the high arctic.
The future may well be economically difficult, but Canadians won’t bend to pressure, they’ll stand up and be counted, and in so doing, thrive.
Canada is not for sale.
And Canada, never will be.
