Tonight, I listened to an American cleric talk about how the new Pope, displays all of the values that America fervently believes in.
Sorry, but that almost made me gag. A couple of his quotes were;
“A love of all people.”
“Kindness and empathy for the world’s poor and disadvantaged.”
“Equality, which is not only an American belief.”
Sorry. The new Pope may well be a good man, but as for America’s beliefs?
Not on your life.
What I’ve been seeing in America is essentially exactly the opposite.
What is clearly in evidence is racism, hate, misogyny and abuse.
America is deliberately hurting the poor around the world, having chosen to remove food from starving children by cancelling USAID in order to pay for a tax break for billionaires.
America has cancelled vaccinations for those most susceptible to a variety of deadly diseases, mostly in Africa and Asia.
Empathy? Kindness? A love for all people?
Stop the lies. Just because Trump can’t tell the truth, — the rest of us can.
I suppose that’s why America cut off support for Ukraine, or sent Israel more bombs to rain on defenseless Palestinians.
Yup, America really loves all people.
Except for 52,000 Palestinians, or starving 2.2 million others.
Watching, and withholding assistance from Ukraine while 450,000 men and women die or are crippled?
Not enough?
Such love demonstrated, that America has chosen to deport people without their children, or without any due process.
Equality? Deliberately disenfranchising gay people and transgender people? Unceremoniously firing gays from the military?
The examples are innumerable, and the arrogance preposterous.
So, yes, the Pope may well be a good man, but let’s face it, that’s not what America exhibits every single day.
That is simply, bullshit.
America is no longer a ‘great’ society. It is narcissistic, hateful, self-absorbed, arrogant and intolerant.
America was once a much greater society, but today, — no more.
