Exiting The U.S. Defence Strategy

The time has come for Canada to chart its own course strategically and militarily. The U.S. cannot be trusted. Full stop.

Whether that is in relation to the F-35, AIP submarines, Self-Propelled Howitzers, Tanks, AFV’s, Air Defence, etc., etc.

The United States, does not have Canada’s back. It may actually be waiting for Canada to turn its back.

Canadian sovereignty is Canada’s business. The U.S. has no interest in assisting Canada to protect its sovereignty, it is solely interested in directing Canada’s actions.

This morning, November 18th, 2025, Canada’s Industry Minister, Melanie Joly stated;

“Canada didn’t get enough out of the F-35 fighter jet deal from American firm Lockheed Martin. We’re looking at both (Saab) at the same time. I don’t believe that we’ve had enough jobs created and industrial benefits done out of the F-35 contract. I think it’s not enough. I think Canadians expect more and we should get more.

When it comes to the Gripen, of course we’re really interested in seeing what can be done,” she said, adding that “Swedish defence giant Saab has offered Ottawa 10,000 new Canadian manufacturing jobs.

The geopolitical climate alone in relation to the American government is such that Canada should look elsewhere by default.

The U.S. government would still have control of Canada’s aircraft by controlling everything from avionics to software, parts, repair and maintenance.

Saab, by contrast, is not only allowing technology transfer, but will preclude the U.S. from interfering with their aircraft by using a Rolls Royce engine and avionics that are Swedish, German and NATO compatible. Plus Canada will be able to produce the Gripen in Canada and upgrade and create improvements in the aircraft.

The United States should worry about its own sovereignty and airspace. That doesn’t include Canadian territory. Canada, will soon have more in common with Sweden, Finland, Norway and the E.U., than it does with the United States.

The majority of Canadians fully support this endeavour. Those that don’t, essentially are in the pocket of MAGA, or the U.S. military industrial complex.

It’s time to get out from under the U.S. and to make determinations about Canada’s future based solely on what benefits Canadians.
