U.S., Banning Foreign Drones is Simply Protectionism

The Trump administration’s decision to ban all foreign drones, may well backfire ‘bigly’ in the U.S.

How a DJI consumer drone poses a risk to US National Security is laughable.

Yup, that DJI Mini Pro is surely what the Chinese are using to destroy America’s electronic sovereignty.

I suppose all those pictures of monument valley and the Mohave Desert possess secret value, right?

I can just imagine thousands of Chinese pouring over pictures of Glacier National Park and Yellowstone. Oh, the risks, are beyond imagination.

Good dog. Maybe there’ll be a picture of Mar a Lago, or worse, Trump golfing!

I mean, can you imagine.

Wouldn’t want the commies getting any pictures of secret U.S. installations like Disneyland, now would you.

Retaliation

I would imagine that the world should ban any and all American electronic devices, like Apple products, because you know, they’re taking pictures of secret installations around the world like the Eiffel Tower, London Bridge and even, heaven forbid, the forbidden city itself, gasp!

It’s obvious that American protectionism is simply based on damaging foreign companies that basically ‘own’ the particular product area, as does DJI.

The sovereignty of American airspace is at risk? Really?

For sure. All those realtors taking pictures of properties from the air? Absolutely. They might disclose some secret construction techniques, right?

The whole assertion is laughable.

Stupidity: That’s All You Can Call This

DJI has already stated that the U.S. can inspect its drone technology, yet the US has done nothing.

As if that hasn’t already been done?

Ludicrous.

National Security? Hardly. National stupidity? Absolutely.

Maybe it’s time for the world to ban American electronic devices, because we’re pretty sure they’re eavesdropping on the world writ large.

Yup. Let’s ban Apple products for sale around the globe, just in case.

The reality is that the U.S. is simply involved in protectionism and boosting U.S. industry, but the implications for American technology, outside the U.S. may well spell disaster for American giants like Apple.

America’s prospective actions against Chinese router manufacturers, after already targeting Chinese drones and Huawei, the largest manufacturer of consumer electronics in China, simply could spell disaster for the U.S. as Chinese retaliation or reciprocity is a distinct possibility.

China has massive leverage, as China itself is a massive market for Apple.

By weaponizing consumer electronics, the U.S. could well be spelling disaster for American electronics and the American electronic industry. Companies like Apple are heavily reliant on Chinese manufacturing and sales. Supply chain disruptions could blow a massive hole in Apple’s profits, and the reliability of production, and sales in the future.

Just to be on the safe side, consumers should start buying Japanese manufactured products only. That will surely solve America’s fears.
