Political Editorial Opinion
Why does America never learn? Why is it that since 1965, America has been involved in almost continuous conflict. If it wasn’t a major conflict like Vietnam, the Gulf Wars 1 & 2, Afghanistan, Syria, Panama, Somalia it has been the bombing of sovereign nations, just to be able to keep ‘their hand in it’.
Using the word “peace” and America in the same breath simply wants to make one laugh. But today, America has become a duplicitous democracy. One that lies as pretence in order to make an attack more effective in its killing and destruction.
International law, the UN and public opinion in the United States is simply ignored. America’s leadership and administration don’t give a whit if they indiscriminately kill innocents in some far off ‘shit hole’, as the President of the United States has called foreign nations on a regular basis.
So here we are, day six of relentless bombing of a sovereign nation that did not attack the United States of America. Just like Afghanistan and Iraq, all that will come of this is as Simon Tisdale of the Guardian stated a week ago; “an open-ended US-Israeli aggression against Iran, instantly spreading chaos. Civilians will be killed, children orphaned, families torn apart…How dismaying — how unforgivable! — that those past lessons have not been learned. How incredible that an elected 21st Century American president still believes it’s effective and permissible, let alone moral, to dictate to the world from the barrel of a gun. By what conceivable right does the US behave in this way?”
Trump doesn’t even pretend. It’s all about his self-interest. First it was ‘steal oil from Venezuela’ This fiasco of simply raining death from the air, once again, a talent America excels at, will do nothing to change the regime in Teheran. In Russia they have a saying, “New Boss, Just Like the Old Boss”, well congratulations America, there you go.
All of this, predicated on a lie that Americans wanted to pretend was true. Almighty justification for mass-murder, and the American military actually told some of its airmen and soldiers that these acts were ‘ordained by God’.
Jesus fuck. If that isn’t the biggest insult to rationality and reason, I don’t know what is.
And the Porn King of America, goes even one better, attempting to cause what would likely be mostly unarmed Iranian citizens to rise up against the IRGC or Iranian Revolutionary Guard, that the regime has ensured has both the capacity and determination to crush when they do.
As stated in the Guardian; “It’s an irresponsible invitation to anarchy and mayhem. It could trigger the fracturing of the Iranian state into its many ethnic and religious components and a catastrophic civil war drawing in regional states.”
So this is America’s strategic plan?
This is the height of America’s intelligence?
Twice, America has proven to Iranians that it cannot be trusted by offering negotiations while actually planning to attack. Well, the charade is now over, and Americans will have to get used to looking over the shoulders for the nth time in their recent history, as you can be assured that retribution, domestic and international ‘challenges’ will become evident, soon.
It would have been incredibly wise for Americans to ‘stand up and resist’ what is now unfolding and spreading to both Iranian proxies and into America itself in the future.
Mass murder by America and Israel, is not easily forgotten by the orphaned child, the widowed mother, and the society once-again attacked by a nation devoid of honour, ethics, morality or truth.
America will reap the whirlwind that it has unleashed in the middle-east, again and again.
As Simon Tisdale’s final comment attests;
“Despite all the hate-mongering, mutual ignorance and disinformation, the vast majority of Americans and Iranians are on the same side. Their common foe is tyranny. There leaders are the problem. There is no need for this fight.”
Yesterday, I had coffee with a new friend. His name is Reza and he immigrated to Canada forty years ago with his wife and children, after immigrating originally to the United States because of Iran’s leadership and to flee hatred.
He said to me;
“I realized, even then, that America was a racist country, where hatred of the others would one day lead to my sons facing the same actions they would have faced in Teheran, just as my sister and her family are now experiencing in Texas. They too will be coming here, soon, as America is no longer anyplace for immigrants, for refugees or those who expect peace or a future. There is no future in America for those of us who aren’t white and Christian.”
His last statement was even more chilling, as he stated;
“I’m an atheist, yet to Americans, all they see is an Arab Muslim that needs to be deported or killed.”
That is America now. And that is all that America offers this world. Hate, anger, xenophobia, and threats.
