Summer’s Here Canada: Ten Reasons to Not Travel to the U.S.

Well, it’s that time of year where we all plan for our summer get away, and, or a winter excursion to look forward to.

But, to the U.S.?

Sorry no.

Not now, not ever.

The United States is intent on either coercing Canada, extorting Canada or threatening annexation of Canada. It’s time to ‘move on’ from America. And while visits to the U.S. have decreased by 25%, and around 6 billion dollars less has been spent there by Canadian tourists, it’s time for Canadians to get serious and double that figure for 2025.

Summer vacation season is almost upon us and rather than travel to the U.S., use your hard-earned dollars to travel to a nation that actually respects, welcomes and is significantly safer than the United States of America.

Travel to Europe, or better yet, travel within Canada. You money will go farther, your fuel costs, hotel costs and food costs will be less, plus there won’t be someone hanging around the sites you might visit wearing an “ICE” or “Border Patrol” vest, demanding to see your ‘papers’.

You wouldn’t visit Germany in the 1930’s, so why visit the U.S. in 2026? America’s actions aren’t the actions of a democracy, they’re the actions of a fascist government.

And don’t forget that if you were to enter an American port of entry, you can simply be detained, without recourse, if you refuse an American Immigration Officer access to your phone and the password for them to view all of its content.

Sorry, no.

Like Donald Trump has stated over and over. You don’t want to visit a ‘shit hole’ where your safety, your human rights and simply fair treatment can be withheld by men and women who have been hired by a xenophobic administration, specifically to ensure that you do not gain entry into the United States of America.

So, here are just ten reasons to not visit or travel to the U.S. this year, and the list is only going to get longer and more important to maintaining your safety.

• #1 – I don’t like being detained by storm troopers. Being treated like criminals isn’t likely a great plan for attracting tourists. And that’s if you’re a WASP. If you’re a could BEE, Black, an emigrant or educated, the U.S. is ever more likely treat you like the enemy.
• #2 – Visiting the famous “sights of hypocrisy”. No thanks. Going to a Statue in New York Harbour, where ICE are just ‘waiting’ for vacationers, immigrants or non-white and non-English speakers to show up? If you don’t carry a Canadian passport, or only have a green card or student visa, don’t even think about it.
• #3 – See those ‘National Parks’ at a premium Canada. You’ll now have the pleasure of being charged more to enter national parks. Wouldn’t want to not let visitors know they aren’t special, would we America? Maybe it’s time for requiring visas with specific dates, times and limitations on stays to Canada?
• #4 – Gas prices? Requires no explanation. Thanks America for attacking another sovereign country and causing the deaths of tens of thousands of their citizens, just so that you can steal their resources and improve sales of military hardware in America.
• #5 – Airfare? Requires no explanation, but… thanks for closing the Strait of Hormuz and making sure that both jet fuel and gas or diesel for vehicles is now nearly twice as much as previously. Kudos America.
• #6 – U.S. dollar? Umm…no… Save 35% and don’t go. Buy Canadian for everything.
• #7 – Gun violence. Instead, look at Europe. In America, (google AI), “Statistically, vacationing in Europe is significantly safer than in the U.S. regarding gun violence. Data through early 2026 shows that gun homicide rates are roughly 10 to 25 times higher than in most Western European Countries. Statistically, this represents the same level of risk as riding a motorcycle for your holiday in Europe, versus renting a car. As a motorcyclist who has been hit twice by inattentive drivers in cars, this is significant.
• #8 – Political and Economic attacks by the U.S. on Canada. Let’s face it, why support a country that is willfully and with malice attacking Canada in order to extort Canada? The U.S. ignores International Trade Law and breaks existing agreements, specifically to force Canadian compliance with America’s wishes, such as buying F-35 fighters from the U.S. It’s time for Canadian procurement to promote Canada and our allies, of which America is not.
• #9 – CUSMA: The Canadian US Mexico Agreement on tariff and trade is upcoming. The US is angered over the fact that Canadians, irrespective of Canada’s position in relation to visiting, taking vacations or buying American products, has lost 25% of Canadian travellers, ongoing now for over 14 months. Stay the course, and if the U.S. continues its extortion, let’s see it we can double the impact and half the number of Canadians who visit the U.S. or spend a dime there.
• #10 – Donald Trump and this Administration. Because of this group of kleptocrats, thieves, pathological liars, xenophobes, racists and criminal pedophiles, the world is watching the U.S. government kill Americans, Iranians, Venezuelans and large of numbers of people who formerly received aid from America. Because the U.S. in its xenophobic wisdom and overt greed supports the US decision to withhold aid to starving children and women around the world. “According to Harvard T.H. And why? So that Donald Trump can give tax breaks to the rich, to oil interests, investors and to Trump’s band of supportive plutocrats?America has no empathy and Evangelicals are pure hypocrites. America deserves isolation, and Americans deserve to lose at least 12 billion U.S. a year in Canadian travel revenue, holiday stays, business visits or winter ‘snowbird’ visitations, not just for 15 months, but in perpetuity.

I’ve already had two three friends sell their properties in Florida and Arizona. Let’s sell them all and build new vacation homes in BC or PEI or, anywhere but the U.S.

Invest in Canadian businesses, in Canadian ethical funds, in respecting the environment and improving Canada’s air quality, by tackling climate change and protecting pristine Canadian wilderness.

We owe nothing to the U.S.
