Americans Continue to Imply that the US Navy is Massive – It’s Not Anymore – Fact: Now it’s mostly hubris.

A Political Editorial Opinion
I find it astounding that the United States, with a military budget for this next year of 1.5 trillion dollars, yes trillion, is incapable of producing enough ships to secure two combat areas simultaneously, and yet the Iran War has proven that to be the case.
America’s ability to build its own naval ships in either a reasonable timeline or at reasonable expense, has also been validated as being entirely ineffective. And, as the following charts will illustrate, the US Navy is simply much smaller than most Americans realize, yet again, the US will spend 1.5 trillion on defence spending in 2027. China, the second largest spender on defence will spend approximately $300 billion in 2027 or 1/5th as much as the U.S.
America will build 19 ships in 2027, the largest number according to the U.S. Navy in over two decades. However, China, with 1/5th the budget will build 100 Chinese Naval ships in 2027. So much for closing the gap. And yes, it is now a massive gap, as the following charts illustrate.

Currently, the US Navy, including ‘all’ ships, (that includes 81 cargo, supply and oilers) is 320 ships. If you exclude amphibious ships and cargo ships the entire US Navy strength is approximately 200 ships. At any given time, the U.S. Navy states that approximately 33% of this number are unavailable for deployment for a variety of reasons. Which leaves available approximately 133 ships for deployment. And while the U.S. claims to posses 7 fleets, only 4 are actually operational today.
The total size of the People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) is now approximately 1000 ships all inclusive, and will increase that number by 100 ships in 2027. It is important to note that China’s major combatants are mostly ‘new’ hulls with more modern weapons systems than the majority of United States Naval Forces, whose hulls average more than 31 years in age.

The Factual Bottom Line
Irrespective of how one looks at the comparison in relation to a non-nuclear war breaking out between the U.S. and China in the Pacific theatre of war, China’s numerical advantage and now its capability illustrates a gap for America, that will be very difficult, if not impossible to fill in the next decade or more.
In addition, China’s replacement capability and capacity is much greater than that of the United States currently, as China’s shipyards have massive capacity, which further exacerbates the existing disparity, as it continues to grow.
America continues to state what can only be called ‘questionable’ assertions, that within the international naval warfare community and its knowledgeable strategists suggest that; once again, America hubris exceeds its abilities. However any real test of its assertions would only be truly proven by a conventional war with China, something that the United States is unlikely to want to engage in, for obvious reasons, in any event.
The future is highly uncertain, mostly due to U.S. aggression around the world. America is losing allies, partners and trade with the entire world. Meanwhile, China’s trade, particularly with the middle powers of the west, is growing appreciably. That should come as no surprise as the United States attacks its (former allies), trade partners and (former friends) regularly. Its attempts to coerce, threaten, extort and indeed economically attack its neighbours has created deep animus towards America that will not reverse in decades to come.
The only commodity that Americans appears to excel at, is in their narcissism and hubris, which today is boundless. Truth is no longer part of America’s lexicon. And trust towards the United States has in turn become, — non-existent.
