As I look around the political landscape, I can’t but help be shocked by the display of sociopathic behavior in our lives. We seem inured to the illogical, the irrational, the unreasonable, the unscientific. Instead, society has become a place where ‘getting even’ and ‘getting what’s owed me’ is the most important goal.
All of the attributes that I’ve attempted to adopt throughout my life seem to be of little value in the existing climate of greed, avarice, and hate that exists. It seems that religion has come full circle. Created to control through fear, hate, and guilt, the world looks for scapegoats and the ‘others’ to lay blame on and take retribution against.
Let’s face it. There is nothing like a good holy war of sorts to get the masses in line. Be it the crusades or America’s bipolar (no pun intended) Evangelical current crusade, fomenting hate, fear, and retribution against the ‘others’ is all good fodder for the masses, so dumbed-down by the media that they can’t even examine the 30 second sound bite.
Sociopathic leaders find comfort in like company. The Putins and Trumps of the world have a common cause, a worthy goal, as they see it. Hegemony, subjugation, control of the ‘others’ through pervasive lies and the eschewing of science, logic, and reason.
Don’t you dare use facts? Don’t you dare use logic? How can we influence you to be ignorant and act out our wishes if you think critically? That would be no good at all you should know. Soon you might come to the full realization that you’re being used. We surely can’t have that.
But for those with intelligence, a critical mind, and the ability to tease out truth from lies, what is now required is courage, fortitude, honor, intelligence, and discourse. We need to stand up to those who willfully steal, lie, hate, and subjugate others, either politically or economically. We need to institute sanity back into our lives by illuminating the ignorance and greed that sociopaths revere.
There is a cure for ignorance. It requires the media, educational institutions, think tanks, the scientific community, and the intelligentsia to stand up and be counted. To tear down ignorance, arrogance, stupidity, and the greedy by illuminating their lies. Calling them out with facts and proof, every time they utter their collective ignorance. We also need to break apart monopolies that economically disadvantage all but the 1%.
Inequality has never been greater. Societal degradation has never been more obvious. Whether about poverty, education, opportunity, or political opportunity, the playing field is rigged. Those without the means to affect change are confined to the status they occupy. America isn’t a great melting pot, it is a distillation process, where those who are willing to use and abuse will hold sway, hold influence, and control the rest. It matters little how they rise to gain power and influence. Lies, stealth, cunning, and criminal behavior mean nothing. Attainment and cleansing by attribution are all that matter.
Ultimately, becoming one of the one percent is all that matters, and it has never been more obvious or odious than it is today.
All hail the sociopath. All hail the great unclothed leader.
