The Canadian Federal Government is not just sending mixed messages, it’s working against Canadians buying electric vehicles. First you offer subsidies, then you remove all subsidies. Meanwhile you stop Chinese vehicles from bringing cheaper vehicles to Canada in order to appeal to the auto sector, who for the average Canadian are making vehicles that don’t offer either the range of Chinese EV’s or a reasonable price.
So what is it Federal Government?
Don’t tell me that you’re interested in the environment and that we need to electrify and then stop us from buying affordable vehicles. Remove the 100% tariff on Chinese electric vehicles. Otherwise, your actions are nothing but hypocritical.
Tell me, what’s the difference on whether we’re extorted by America, or by our own government?
The Chinese have made awesome strides, in battery life, charge time, and the relative risks to both the environment and the risks associated with fire caused by an overheating battery, so it has nothing to do with safety. The Chinese are already putting solid state batteries in vehicles, yet here we are paying through the nose for batteries have all the inherent deficits you supposedly want manufacturers to fix.
Again, stop the hypocrisy and the bullshit.

I’ll tell you. The communists aren’t trying to destroy Canada, that’s what.
And don’t couch this in democracy vs communism. That ship sailed 35 years ago. Everyone’s home in this country and the U.S. is filled with Chinese products.
Either allow free trade, or at least have the honesty to tell Canadians that you’re not allowing Chinese vehicles into Canada because you are protectionist and because domestic car manufacturers aren’t able to compete.
You’re acting like the Americans towards your own Canadian citizens.
