Canada is at a crossroads, just as the world is.
It is time for politics to give way to action, and that action needs to take Canada away from the narrative that has ruled it for nearly one hundred and sixty years.
We, forty one and a half million Canadians are ready to create the country that we have always wanted. One that is confident in itself, knows where it is going and how to get there.
Canada, as much as any nation is blessed with resources, intelligent, capable people, ready to work, perservere and succeed in making Canada truly proud and free.
For more than sixty years, Canada has laboured under an illusion that saw Canadians as ‘less than’ Americans and America.
Canadians, have simply been humble, willing to remain quiet but steadfast and loyal, committed to a relationship that was thought to bring opportunity and freedom from tyranny.
But that willingness to not speak out has been to our detriment.
Caught up in the maelstrom of America’s chaos and arrogance, we now find ourselves threatened by the neighbour we trusted.
And the threat, once insidious, but believed to exist, has come to fruition.
America has become a danger. Irrational, irresponsible, unhinged.
America is no friend.
America is no ally.
America is no partner.
And now, it is unequivocally obvious to the world.
America, is also, no democracy.
Canadians believe, wholeheartedly in democracy. We are not impressed by unrestrained power, by arrogance, by pretence.
We thrive on truth, honor, valor, hard-work and a belief in each other. We are, as a nation, kind, empathic and resilient.
We believe in the rule of law.
We believe in equality and the rights of minorities.
We celebrate multiculturalism, diversity and knowledge.
We are, if not THE, one of the most educated peoples on this planet.
We revere the environment and the earth that sustains us.
But enemies of Canada need to recognize something else, something not just equally powerful, but incorruptable.
We will not bow down to fascists, demagogues, dictators, kleptocrats or plutocrats.
And we will not bow down to a sociopath.
We will use our intelligence, resourcefulness and allies, — real allies, to stand up to the aggressor, oppressor and usurper.
We now face just such a situation.
America has become a pathogen to prosperity, a parasitic infection that intends on devouring its host, — the very planet we reside on.
Not content to destroy its own environment, its own quality of life, it is now intent on extending destruction to the world at large.
In a span of simply a decade, America has become a threat to the world order, economically, militarily and geopolitically.
It seems destined on creating a new world order, based on threat, coercion, extortion and destruction.
It supports genocidal leaders, also intent on a lawless society that will utterly destroy its neighbours, rather than seek just and honorable solutions to intractable problems.
And, most frightening of all. It is now ruled by men and women without honor, truth, ethics or morals. It is run by a minority of plutocrats, intent on maximizing profit before all else.
It is fascist in its intent, and will not stop until it has devoured and satiated its desire for ‘more’. More greed, more malice, more threats, more abuse, more ‘art of the steal’.
Canada’s Response to Tyranny
Sovereignty is an emphemeral thing. Ask Ukrainians what sovereignty means, and the depths to which they will, and have gone, to secure it.
Canada does not have sufficient population to withstand a direct invasion by a neighbour eight times its size.
What it does have is resolve and an iron will to not be subjected to fascism, lies and manipulation.
Canada, if invaded would fight, not just for days, months or years, but for generations.
We know who we are, what we are, and what we have in relation to democracy and freedom.
We harbor no illusions, no failure in understanding.
We are, moving away from America’s invasive parasitic infection.
Look at the damage that Trump is doing to America and Americans?
We do not agree with America’s actions and we will not follow the irrational path that the United States is on.
A divided nation, intent on simply ‘taking’ what it wants, is not a nation to be respected, and not one simply to be feared, either. It is a nation to be avoided, to build bulwarks against. It is one not to trade with, for trade simply supports the abuser’s interests.
It is time to move out of America’s sphere of influence, and out of its shadow.
Canada, is building alliances, friends, partners and trade with like-minded peoples and nations.
We will, as John F. Kennedy so clearly and eloquently articulated sixty-four years ago stated;
“Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of liberty.”
So, Mr. Carney, your task is momentous.
We are in the shadow of a country that wishes us harm. It has stated so clearly and with malice.
We border another neighbor as well that has proven its willingness to seek hegemony and the recreation of ’empire’, all at the expense of its neighbours.
It is now time to do the ‘hard things’.
Canada needs, first and foremost, to defend its sovereignty, to trade with honourable partners, to find solutions to intractable problems, to ever improve the willingness and capability of its people to work hard and seek the truth.
Canada’s destiny, is to NOT BE AMERICA.
It is to be better, much better.
We do not seek zero-sum games at the expense of our friends and neighbours.
We do not seek to steal, extort or threaten those weaker than ourselves.
We seek to use the rule of law and democracy to achieve our goals.
We resolve to protect what Canada has achieved.
We intend to respect those that respect us.
And we will defend it, for as long and as hard as necessary, ad infinitum.
