Israel: Slowly, Methodically Killing 2.2 Million People

I used to support Israel. It seemed that Israel, at least at one time, was on the right side of humanity, after having suffered horribly during the holocaust.

But today, 80 years on, there is no excuse for Israel’s actions toward at least 2 million innocents in Gaza.

Netanyahu is an animal, equal to the worst of those having harmed Israelis. His affirmed intention of starving, bombing, shooting, and depriving Palestinians of the most basic of essentials, food, shelter, and medical assistance, is nothing short of heinous.

And to what end?

Yes, mathematically there are still 24 human beings, certainly important, still missing or possibly being held in Gaza.

Are they alive?

No one knows, — yet Netanyahu uses their lives as the rationale for killing 52,000 Palestinians, and continuing to do so, daily.

I live in a decidedly Jewish part of my city, the most affluent neighborhood in the city.

Usually on Sundays, I awake and take my motorcycle over to a coffee shop, where the patrons are mostly Jewish to sit and relax and enjoy the ambiance of people, respected equally, many non-Jewish, black, or Asian, living in harmony.

As Canadians, we are not anti-semitic, anti-Palestinian, anti-black, or anti-asian. Most of us don’t harbor hatred, intolerance, or anger towards the ‘others’.

Yet today, there seems to be a cult of hatred in this world. Those who feel that irrespective of who they harm or why, there must be a valid reason for such action.

There is no such validation.

Doing what Netanyahu, Trump or any other of the many autocrats, dictators, and sociopaths do, daily, to ‘get even’ with the perceived injustices visited upon them, is illogical, irrational, and simply an excuse to be inhuman, intolerant, and demonstrate that they have the power, the will and the means to destroy other people and their lives.

Humans, as a species, are deeply flawed, yet capable of the most humane, logical, rational, and reasoned behavior, yet in today’s world, those voices are silenced, ignored, degraded, and attacked, as ‘pacifists’ or ‘weak’.

The reality is that it is they who are the hope for the future of mankind.

It would be wise of Israel to realize that technology, once developed is open to utilization by anyone with the means of production.

A hypersonic missile hit Ben Gurion airport this week.

I believe it was a message, clear and unequivocal.

“We can hit you. Continue what you are doing, and soon, one of these will be nuclear tipped.”

There needn’t be any messaging, or any warning.

The ‘message’ arrived at Ben Gurion Airport.

Remember;

Anyone can perform acts of hatred and vengeance.

It takes no strength of character, it takes no intelligence.

It simply takes one to listen, live and experience hate in the culture, for people to become enamored with retribution and the ability to damage, destroy, or kill.

Israel, by killing 52,000 Palestinians is providing the means for multi-generational hatred to persist in the next century.

And Palestinians, as a group, are the most educated people on earth.

If given the means of production, in Iran, for example, the world may become a completely different place.

It would behoove those arrogant enough to use their power illegitimately, to realize they too can be subject to horrors barely imagined.

I am an atheist, and for good reason, because the vast majority of those inflicting harm on others cling to their religions to be absolved of their inhumanity.

I am not a pacifist either as I would defend my country, our rights, and our people.

But what I see being done today has nothing to do with any of that.

It is simply that those who possess power, control the courts, the media, and the impressions formed through the swaying of minds, that enable them to act without fear.

Israelis are no better than the Palestinians they kill and the families they destroy.

So the next time you’re sitting down with your mocha latte, reveling at the weather and the comforts you enjoy, remember that you are complicit, for you are doing nothing to stop the killing, the injustice, the hatred.

I will find another, less entitled coffee shop, where those who are the targets of your power meet to demand answers and solutions.

For today, it is them.

Tomorrow, it may be me.
