The above phrase, it has been stated was first voiced in the late eighteenth century, but today, it is probably more apt than ever.
And its meaning, back then, wasn’t meant as one being disconsolate.
Not so today.
If ever the world, and more explicitly, the so-called leader of the free world (now an oxymoron), needed an enema, it’s now, while at least some semblance of western democracy, as damaged and weakened as it is, still exists.
America — is, pure and simple, a shit show.
No equivocation. No pretence of goodness or right. Simply a shit show, period.
A zero-sum gameshow host, convicted felon, pathological liar and rapist is the, once again, ‘leader of the free world’.
The joke is, freedom is at risk.
Free, as in trade, is over.
Freedom of the press, is over.
Freedom of speech, is over.
Freedom of action, is over.
Freedom of immigration, is over.
There is nothing that the imposter of the free world says, does, thinks or acts upon that is anything but self-serving, intended to increase the wealth and power of he himself, and his cronies.
As a Canadian, it is as though we are attached to a giant parasite. Ten times our size, with a voracious appetite to do harm.
It lives to consume, to damage, and then, to move on.
Were it possible that a giant geographical tear could rend Canada from the United States, physically, we, would be in favour.
We have watched with abject horror as a man devoid of any character, any goodness or empathy, especially intelligence, dismantles democracy and all its facets, publicly.
This is no ‘behind the scenes’ attempt to hide his intent. It is a ‘clear and present danger’, if ever there was one, yet Americans sit, quietly, without any apparent willingness to stand up to a dictator.
Once again I’m reminded of the following poem;
The future looks to be diminished, damaged, — filled with irrationality, irresponsible actions, hatred and violence, — all on behalf of a sociopath whose only values are wealth and power.
Power to disenfranchise.
Power to diminish the quality of life.
Power to destroy the environment.
Power to destroy the ‘others’.
Power to consume, until there is nothing left to consume.
We are coming into a time of great instability, scarcity, and inevitably warfare.
All brought about by the ignorance and hatred of one man and his MAGAN fools.
We’re there such a place.
Stop the World, it’s time to get off.
I want out of a Dictator’s world.
