Canada and Trump – Agreement vs The Ongoing Tariff Lunacy

First, let’s state that few people in Canada believe Trump will keep his word on anything, and as he is America’s President, that means that Canadians don’t trust Americans anymore

America not only made this human pathogen its ‘baby monarch’ once, but twice.

So there is no doubt that this is America’s ‘choice’.

And that says more about Americans than anything else.

What Happens When Extortion Becomes America’s Preferred Foreign Policy?

Canada’s Prime Minister stated today that it is unlikely that Canada can reach an agreement with the United Staes on Trade, without some level of tariffs by Trump being imposed.

Carney stated that, “We need to recognize that the commercial landscape globally has changed. It’s changed in a fundamental manner,” Carney said.

As the Prime Minister stated a few months ago, “Our Relationship with the United States, is over.”

There are a very significant number of Canadians who suggest that in fact, signing any agreement with the United States is ludicrous and not worth the Canadian paper it’s written on, seeing as Trump has yet to keep his word on virtually anything that the United States has signed, including NAFTA and CUSMA.

Every justification provided by Americans has been a lie, especially the one often used, diary products. It’s a fact that America signed both the NAFTA and CUSMA agreement, which the WTO, GATT and ITO then ratified. The agreement currently in force was the one Trump called the ‘best free trade agreement, ever.”

He then, again, unilaterally tore it up, against trade law practices.

But we are beginning to see a pattern here, as Trump doesn’t believe in the rule of law, in America’s democratic institutions, in higher education, health coverage for the poor, and essentially in the Constitution of the United States.

But please America, stop the delusional pretence and child-like logic.

Canadians are the most educated people on the planet.

So please, stop using utter bullshit to justify extortion.

Because we can actually define extortion.

In relation to extortion, I personally, don’t particularly disagree with the sentiment that signing an agreement with a nation that then tears them up arbitrarily serves any real purpose, but a further rational analysis of Trump’s narcissistic behaviour suggests that inking some form of agreement, though only if with some lower level of tariffs, (although it still qualifies as extortion), provides Canada time to continue its transition away from trade with America and to trade almost exclusively in the future with the E.U. , the U.K., China and the ASEAN nations, Japan, Korea, etc., in addition to Australia and New Zealand.

Trump is unpredictable, likely suffering from dementia, and has proven himself to be untrustworthy and more often than not, irrational. But taking a respite from the continued threats by enabling ‘the child monarch’ an opportunity to crow about his 100 deals, irrespective of whether they take 100 months at this point to finalize and are based on nothing but threats and coercion, is definitely a sensible action by Canada in order to forestall even more insanity from the United States of America.

Canada will undoubtedly diversify and reverse the level of trade Canada has with the United States once a vast majority of Canada’s trade is with other countries, other than the U.S.. Before Trump, it was convenient to trade with the U.S. for a wide variety of reasons, most notably due to geography and proximity.

However, Canada’s minerals, oil, aluminum, steel, LNG, rare earth and battery minerals, nickel, etc, etc, are in high demand globally, so while it is truly disruptive and will cost Canada significantly, there is no going back.

Canada must extricate itself from America’s sphere of influence, and is now laser focused on doing just that.

So, while we must remain physically neighbours, — we are no longer friends, allies or partners in any sense.

Americans should not assume that there will be a return to ‘business, or friendship as usual’, at any point in the future.

How irrational would it be if the shoe were theoretically, on the other foot? What if America were to be attacked economically, — then threatened with the use of force by a country nine times its population size and told it was of “no value” and to then expect that after 80 years of a trusted relationship with that friend and ally, to be given a fait accompli that stated; “unless you are willing to be annexed by us, we will keep extorting you”.

It sounds a bit like, “Beatings will continue until morale improves”, does it not?

As for business as usual?

Ummmm….Not friggin likely.

And if America does continue to act illegally, while it will be detrimental to Canada, Canadians will be willing to embargo the sale of ‘key’ products to the U.S. and rapidly increase deliveries to China, Japan and Korea, along with those nations that Canada has long-standing free trade agreements with and that it trusts.

Canada will, in the short term, undoubtedly respond with counter tariffs that balance whatever the final ‘art of the steal’ ends up being on those products that have the greatest impact on America. Potash, oil, energy, aluminum, steel, timber, automobiles parts, motorcycles, services, etc., etc., are all possibilities that will drive up the cost of all of the finished products or manufactured goods made in the U.S.A that contain or are made from Canadian derivatives.

Building a home or building, buying a car, maintaining farm production, buying gas for your car, even electricity costs, along with thousands of manufactured products, will all increase substantively for Americans.

Canada, along with its allies in Europe, the U.K., Japan and Korea, will likely sell American debt (treasury bonds) forcing up the yield, and adding to American debt in response, should the subsequent agreement once again be torn up.

The next phase will include serious de-dollarization around the world, which will have significant impacts on America’s economy, debt and borrowing, not to mention the average American taxpayer.

Economists agree that Inflation in the United States will rise, as will unemployment as the U.S. dollar continues to fall, which it already has, — substantively.

When you arbitrarily treat your former friends and allies like enemies, you can expect to lose any and all trust and influence with them.

Tonight, Trump stated, “We have tariffs coming on, because we want money coming in to the United States”. Excuse me? That’s the best explanation you can give for why you placed tariffs on Canada?

What absolute extortionist drivel.

But that IS America today. A kleptocracy that will extort its neighbours, lie about the rationale, such as; “Canada is bringing fentanyl into the United States, and is doing nothing to stop it”. A complete and patent lie.

Last year Canada seized 25,000 KG of drugs of all kinds (including hash and illegal marijuana shipments) coming INTO Canada, mostly from the United States of America, and from 2022 to 2024, in two entire years, the U.S. Immigration Service, and Border Patrol, seized a total of “59 lbs”of fentanyl coming fromCanada.

Meanwhile, on the Southern Border, 61,900 lbs was seized. Approximately 1/10 of 1% of the problem originated in Canada, yet Trump used Fentanyl flowing from Canada as the rational for attempting to seriously damage Canada’s economy.

Truth escapes America, Trump and this administration entirely. And Canadians are fed up with the bullshit and the lies.3

We know the truth, but it would seem that in America, truth is almost alien, and certainly not illegal. In fact, it seems to be in vogue.

It’s time to not just stop drugs coming into Canada from the U.S.. It’s time to stop the smuggling of guns that create the vast majority of armed crime in Canada.

But we’ll leave that subject for another day, as almost all of the crimes in Canada that are committed by handguns, are smuggled directly from the United States by gangs and organized crime in the U.S.

We’ll let the facts speak to the reality, not bullshit, lies, misinformation and disinformation.

America’s attempts to extort Canada and ultimately use lies as an excuse to attack Canada have failed, as the world knows the truth.

And as a Canadian, I’m not just disgusted with America, — I’m fucking livid.

Stay away from Canada.

We don’t want you, and fewer and fewer Canadians are going to be coming to the U.S.

And that’s for the very, very, long term.
