Rod Serling always began his show, The Twilight Zone, with a monologue. In one particular monologue it began with this;
“They must remain standing because they are a monument to a moment in time when some men decided to turn the Earth into a graveyard. Into it they shoveled all of their reason, their logic, their knowledge, but worse of all, their conscience.”
Was Serling clairvoyant, or was he describing past events, more visceral and real to his viewers? Because many who viewed his shows, had lived through either WWII or the Korean War, and the McCarthy era.
They had seen evil.
They saw, or felt a real instinctive or subliminal reaction to that specific episode, called Death’s Head Revisited, Season 3 Episode 9 in which the worst of man’s capabilities were visited on those Americans (and Canadians) who regularly watched the program.
And they remembered.
Today, anyone born after 2000 has virtually no memory, no experience and often, no understanding of how terrible that time was, or how war’s inhumanity is visited upon those who live it.
Four members of my father’s family, all of his brothers were murdered by Nazis, by fascist and evil young men, freed to be inhuman. That inhumanity, that scapegoating of the ‘others’ led to a willingness by young men, like my father, to enact crimes of hate and retribution against men and women and children, they never knew. Because the media, the voice of the day spread hate, retribution and violence on the ‘others’, — the ones to blame for their previous suffering and deprivation.
And so it is today, that young adults, have no respect or tangible fear for events they have never witnessed or experienced.
My family, my father, mother and their brothers and sisters paid profound, unalterable, lifelong losses and psychological trauma, that lasted with both my parents until the day they died.
And although, my father would not speak of the horror he encountered, he carried within him, physically; a piece of steel next to his aorta that had been made in Nazi Germany, all of his life, encapsulated in scar tissue, that he could feel.
Today, America is close to a point where the horrors that followed the 1930’s may once again be unleashed on America’s citizens, yet many, many Americans have no sense of fear or the need to act, because they cannot see how current events could easily become like those unleashed on the world by a fascist government that had only one desire, — to scapegoat a population and either force them to leave, in the beginning, or eliminate them should they remain inside Germany’s conquered ‘lebensraum’.
In Nazi Germany, the occupation of neighbouring countries was called ‘lebensraum’ or living-space.
Today, we might call what the Trump administration is intent on creating ‘hegemomy’ as it is included in another seemingly innocuous piece of American policy, called Project 2025.
Today, January 15th, 2025, Herr Trump stated that he would send United States Armed Forces personnel into Minnesota to quell what he called an ‘insurrection’. And, he would enact the Insurrection Act to justify his action in doing so.
The Insurrection Act of 1807 is a U.S. federal law (codified in 10 U.S.C. Chapter 13) that grants the President the authority to deploy U.S. military forces–including active-duty military and federalized National Guard units within the United States to suppress insurrections, rebellions, or domestic violence when state and local authorities are unable or unwilling to maintain order or enforce federal law.
That is not the case in Minnesota. First the reason that Minnesotans are protesting peacefully and not rebelling, is because Herr Trump sent a band of untrained, racist and xenophobic goons, some of whom who had likely been members of the January 6th insurrection, an actual insurrection, against the people, the Congress and the Constitution of the United States, like the ‘brown shirts’ of Nazi Germany, to detain, arrest and deport anyone, virtually anyone they even ‘thought’ might be an illegal.
What followed was a violent and vicious assault on many. Many of whom were Americans.
And when ICE and its ancillary band of additional goons, shot and killed a Minnesota woman, who was simply attempting to leave where she was stuck, behind an unmarked black SUV, which was an ICE vehicle left in the middle the road, she was shot in the face and head three times, by an ICE agent. Twice when the car was parallel to the agent, having said clearly on video, “I’m not mad at you.”
What I saw, with my own eyes was nothing but a cold-blooded murder.
And Trump’s first reaction when told about the subsequent murder, and the other 14 times (as reported on MSN NOW during Jen Psaki’s broadcast) was Donald Trump stating;
“Can’t you just shoot them in the legs.”
Seriously.
ICE just murdered a mother of two, and the first thing that comes to mind is, “Can’t you just shoot them in the legs.”
America is now run by a fascist government that has only one goal. To create a Fascist Autocracy that will take control of the United States and hopefully, suppress dissent through fear, and murder if necessary in order to remain in power.
And the reason for power?
Simply to steal as much wealth from both the American people and any and all states in the Western Hemisphere.
And the plan is all neatly describe in the GOP’s new policy document, “Project. 2025”
The United (Oxymoron) States of America, is now a autocratic kleptocracy that has emasculated the Supreme Court, the rule of law, international law and through fear, at least some, if not most, dissent from those who believe in democracy.
The American Congress are a weak, spineless and hypocritical body of should-be legislators, cowed by a tyrant, where their position is more important than truth or honour.
And for those of us, outside of the United (Oxymoron) States of America living in countries in the Western Hemisphere, “we do not trust America, we not want to be a part of America, we do not want to experience the sheer evil of America and by proxy, the people of America who voted for and created the fascist autocracy that America is now.
Leave us alone.
We will trade and create new relationships and trade partners who we can trust to keep their word and respect international law and the trade agreements they sign.
We will buy or procure anything from any country that does not threaten or coerce us to do so, and we will NOT buy or procure any and all equipment, products, services, and or, any military equipment of any kind under duress or threats by any country, should we choose to do so.
We used to be friends, we used to actually be allies. We once thought that you were a principle nation that believed in democracy, freedom and a just world
That was simply a lie, because it’s not what you say, it’s what’s you do that matters.
And what we see in and from Americans, acting against, and now murdering Americans, makes us realize that we, outside, are inestimably the fortune ones.
We ARE free. We do have democracy, not a pseudo, now fascist kleptocracy, autocracy and plutocracy, designed purely to enrich evil men and women who will kill for power and for wealth.
They don’t care how they attain it, clearly illustrated by the Despot who Rules America, who in less than one year manipulated the administration and its actions in such a way that he was able to steal, yes steal, 3 billion dollars from American citizens.
We are ashamed of America.
Goodbye America, we hardly knew you.
