Ontario, Alberta and Quebec Seem to Think That They Are The Only Ones In This Country!
It’s about time that Canadians act like Canadians, and stop acting like we live in a medieval kingdom.
What is happening right now in this country is UnCanadian. Canada is fighting the most powerful nation in the world in a trade dispute instigated by the U.S. in order to apply leverage to Canada. And the Prime Minister, instead of being able to do what he needs to do for all of Canada, has to continuously spend half his time mollifying Premiers who make public pronouncements to their local constituencies about how the federal government isn’t taking them seriously or listening to their concerns.
But the facts are actually being misrepresented by Premiers to defer blame and not affect their electability, which is what they are really concerned about.
Excuse the language, but grow the fuck up!
Rather than play to your audience to foment public support, as if the Prime Minister is disregarding each Premier’s personal interest, tell the truth — all of it.
In Ontario, in 2024, over 44,000 Chinese vehicles were imported to Canada. They were all from an American company, owned by Elon Musk, which in order to compete globally chose to maximize profits, rather than import those Tesla vehicles from the U.S. where material costs and particularly the cost of labour is very high in contrast.
Volvo is owned by Zhejang Geely of China, and has been since 2010. It had imported some cars from China in 2025, however once tariffs were imposed on imports on EV’s, as the previous government decided under duress to accommodate Trump’s threats and apply a 100% tariff, Volvo is now importing cars from Belgium.
I’m sure that Premier Ford and the Canadian Parts Manufacturers are aware of that fact, (and if they weren’t, they’re incompetent) but chose to make inflammatory statements, instead of stating that approximately 5000 additional EV cars were going to be allowed importation to Canada. The difference, and the truth, is significantly different, as in Ontario in 2025, 124,911 EV’s were sold, which represents a 4.002% increase in EV imports from China.
Meanwhile, in Canada last year, the following occurred;
In 2025, Canada experienced a significant increase in new motor vehicle sales, with approximately 1.9 million units sold, marking the highest total since 2019. This growth was driven by a 13.5% rise in light truck sales, while passenger car sales declined by 10.9%. Notably, zero-emission vehicles accounted for 6.5% of total sales in March 2025, despite a 44.9% decrease from the previous year.
However, the spin that is being put onto EV vehicles is done by Premier Ford, in order to score brownie points in Ontario, in order to make it look like the big, bad federal government doesn’t give a damn about Ontario, which is obviously bullshit.
He also failed to mention that EV sales fell by almost half due to the Federal Government dropping its incentive program funded by the Federal government upon the purchase of an EV.
Unlike the United States of America, we, the Canadian public want ‘facts’, that would be those inconvenient truths that don’t square with the parochial spin that provincial governments espouse to the media.
For once, let’s agree that Canada’s sovereignty is more important than appeasing special interests groups, trying to appease their members (Auto Parts Manufacturers of Canada) which in this case represents a 4% increase in EV’s to Ontarian’s, and a 0.26% increase in relation to total car sales in Canada annually.
In 2025, Canada sold about 1,897,058 new motor vehicles. Of these, approximately 12.4% were traditional passenger cars, and the remaining 87.6% were light trucks (including pickups, SUVs, and vans). That works out to roughly 235,000 passenger cars and 1,662,000 light trucks.
