Understanding the Reptilian Brain of the ‘Leader’

Political Editorial Opinion – NOT Satire

Understanding American actions when ascertaining intention and purpose in light of America’s precedent setting President is to a large degree like being a zookeeper whose responsibility is to look after Komodo Dragons.

This isn’t a joke. I mean this in all seriousness.

If one looks closely at the reptilian brain from the perspective of evolution, it is evident that the human brain is in the process of evolving. And one of the greatest issues facing man’s survival relates specifically to understanding that human beings are predatory by nature.

When one works with other humans, we are not all necessarily working with the same ‘raw materiel’. There are those who are truly more evolved in their thinking and less reptilian. They are more aware, happier, less fearful and possess a better sense of being.

It’s more than obvious that those who are making decisions that will impact their safety, their equanimity and their respondent actions, — that they understand this fact, first and foremost.

Jim Massey, ND, HANP, wrote an article in the Journal of Applied Natural Medicine that goes a long way in helping one understand how some people who refuse to change and have recurring patterns of behaviour that are often counterproductive, still continue to repeat those behaviours.

Without going into great detail, suffice to say that the human brain is made up of three distinct parts;

  • The neocortex, (the most evolved part of our brain)
  • The limbic system, (the centre of emotions, motivations and memory
  • The Reptilian brain (the most ancient part of the brain)

The reptilian brain is located in the middle of our heads, which from an evolutionary perspective makes perfect sense. The primary trait of the reptilian brain is the drive to establish and defend territory, what Massey calls ‘the most forceful will to power.’

The major characteristics that present themselves in relation to the dominance of the reptilian brain in human beings are:

  • Obsessive-compulsive behaviour
  • Tyrannical conformance to old ways of doing things
  • Advancing an agenda at all cost
  • Power over others
  • Obeisance to precedent, as in legal, religious, cultural, and other matters
  • Personal day-to-day rituals, superstitious acts and ceremonial reenactments, and;
  • All manner of deception – This element is extremely important to note as lies, obfuscation, denial and highly defensive responses are indicative of its existence.

How the Reptilian Brain Manifests Itself

Those with less developed emotional responses based-on the above ‘facts’, as these are not suppositions but medically proven elements of understanding mental health, have a drive to ‘establish and defend territory that goes far beyond a simple patch of land’. They have a ‘will to power’ that creates among other things, the separation of the races from one another – the ‘Us versus them’ concept – that furthers separatism and promotes ideologies such as racism. All racism and (I would argue xenophobia as well) is reptilian in origin.

America has, today, a particular affection for xenophobic actions and racist behaviour.

The problem is that the reptilian brain, is well concealed. Massey argues, quite compellingly when we consider the current would be King of America’s behaviour and that of his even more reptilian minded sycophants, — that lands are often acquired by force.

Imagine if you will the mind of a Komodo Dragon or Water Monitor. ”Might is right”, and for those less developed humans, for our reptilian brain in action, it is deceptive and hidden from our consciousness, although we may well be ‘aware’ of it both intuitively and emotionally.”

While many of these reptilian characteristics were necessary for basic survival in primitive times, they are of course not so conducive to living in harmony in today’s world.

As Massy states, “the reptilian brain helps promote our current cycle of endless wars by advancing a ‘power over’ mentality.”

Most of Us Make the Shift to Awareness – ‘Most of Us’

However, for some the current politics of separation are based on appealing to those fearful reptilian impulses that keep people from perceiving their conscious self.

Massey further states, “Political ideology is preying on our fears, causing us to focus on the ways we are different rather than how we are very similar.“

When the reptilian brain is in charge, there is always a new danger to discover and deal with, another fear to worry us, and another war to conquer others and protect our “interests”, thus perpetuating our fear and anxiety.

How Do We Deal With Reptilian Irrationality and Zero-Sum Power Dynamics

We now, at least those of us outside the United States, understand intuitively that the President of the United States is incapable of even conceiving of this reality. And so, because of this, it mandates that we act, not as prey, but as predators ourselves.

It does not, however, have to extend to predatory behaviour. It is the recognition that to appear weak as a country or society is to incite and invite a response from a nation whose leadership is reptilian in its actions.

Attempting to rationalize ‘why’ such aggression is counter productive is of no value. The King of Hubris in America knows only how to satiate his reptilian instincts. Therefore, while appeasement may slow his predatory instinct, the best defence is a good offence.

What is problematic for the world’s middle powers is that it requires collaboration and a willingness to sacrifice for the betterment of all to succeed, as has been the case with Europe, Canada, Australia and the U.K. (for example) in relation to the war in Ukraine and Russian aggression.

While this is clearly understood, the Reptile, that America has become, is bent on dismantling and isolating countries in order to cull them from the herd and prepare them for either subservience or attack.

Mark Carney the Prime Minister of Canada and the President of Finland, Alexander Stubb have both clearly illuminated the path that the western nations, the middle powers in particular, need to take in order to keep the reptile that the United States has become, — at bay.

No longer acquiescence, no longer ‘going along to get along’. Instead the integration of power within new frameworks for trade, foreign policy, defence and collective and collaborative security are what is requisite and essential for safety.

Subsequent Military Posture

America’s intentions were clearly articulated in Project 2025. Hegemony and control other nations will be America’s sole methodology in relation to how it manages its foreign affairs.

Dialogue will be, at best superficial, usually concocted from events that will mollify those most fearful, most susceptible and weak.

It is truly like watching a Komodo Dragon on the hunt. Find the weakest, attack and envenomate with a bite containing the most virulent bacteria that will kill the victim, then wait for its inability to defend itself.

Once near death, attack and devour the victim.

That is America today.

But, Komodo Dragons are cannibalistic, so, as my father use to warn me in my exuberant youth, “there is always one tougher son of a bitch in the valley — so be prepared for that reality.”

As a former Disaster Manager, it was requisite to consider risk, the likelihood of an event, its severity and its frequency.

Watching America today, without rose coloured glasses, suggests that the ‘risks’ are all too real.

Social justice, collaboration, the will to share in order for both parties to prosper, is not just irrelevant to the United States, —- it is anathema.

Might is right, and the United States intends on using threats, and subsequent coercion to shape the behaviour it wants. And, if the victim is not compliant enough, it will then attack militarily under some form of pretence and lie in order to justify its actions, while all the ‘others’, — completely aware of America’s lies and treachery, pretend that all will be okay, ‘just go along and it will all be okay.”

Except…it won’t.

Speak Truth to Power and Build a Whole Society Defence to Make the Price of Engagement Too High

And so it is, that the western nations are doing exactly what I previously insinuated. The development of military force and a whole society defence, as Finland, Norway and Sweden did so effectively with the former Soviet Union, and now Russia, clearly obviates the need for collaboration and joint ‘denial’ or acquiescence.

Whether militarily, or in relation to trade and commerce or foreign policy, the middle-powers are building resiliency and diversifying their interests to engage and include emerging economies and those nations whose ideology may not align with their own in order to understand and accept that while hegemony and great power rivalry will always exist, being a lamb tied to a post on the Serengeti plains would be a poor strategy for survival.

We say no to usurpation, no to greed and unrestrained power.

We say NO to America.

We will prepare, and we will fight so that the aggressor, the ‘predator’, will find that like a lion, a group of water buffalo can not just resist, but prevail, and that for the lion to continue to attack, the costs to him physically could be so substantive that his life may well be forfeit.

We are aligning with others, some may well be carnivores themselves, but they too see no point in feeding the lion.

The middle-powers of the world are joining the herd of fellow water buffalo, as we speak.
