Political Editorial Opinion

Overt narcissism isn’t just a problem for the narcissist. It that person happens to occupy the Oval Office in the United States and his actions throughout his entire business and personal life have always been about zero-sum games, it is a particularly dangerous situation for all of us.
Two highly notable narcissists, Richard Nixon and Donald Trump are examples of what can occur when a narcissist’s ego becomes enmeshed in policy or actions that involve foreign relations, particularly foreign wars.
Trump’s demand for Iran’s ‘unconditional surrender’ is a key. Trump’s hubris, Islamophobia and xenophobia is so total, that he cannot conceive of ‘losing’. He is possessed with calling the Iranian regime ‘losers’, even though his own failures have been so obvious, extraordinary and well-known.
Trump is personally possessed with being perceived as a loser, yet his inability to withstand any form of criticism immediately creates a near reptilian attack response for the hate he has for himself and his own failures.
Trump is clearly, simply a fraud, — and always has been.
Kenneth Roth, in an editorial opinion today, wrote in the Guardian,
“Trump’s current fixation is on Iran’s blockage of many of the tankers trying to traverse the strait of Hormuz, through which 20% of the world’s oil and gas travels. The obstruction has sent petroleum prices soaring. Trump’’s latest threat is to destroy Iran’s electrical infrastructure by the end of this week unless Tehran agrees to allow the strait to reopen.”
Except there is a minor problem with that odious threat. The JAG for the U.S. military, stated this week on CNN that going ahead with that action would be considered a ‘crime against humanity’.
No biggie, eh Donnie. It’s becoming your stock in trade.
Sorry Donny, just a fact. Your lack of any form of a rules-based, legal framework for mass murder won’t cut it this time.
“Attacking Iran’s electrical infrastructure would be a war crime. The international criminal court has charged four Russian commanders for doing the exact same thing in Ukraine. Electrical power plants are civilian objects that should not be attacked, and in any case the harm to civilians would be disproportionate to any conceivable military advantage.”
Trump’s lack of options clearly illustrates how his minimal intelligence, his narcissism, his Islamophobia and pure unadulterated ‘hate’ and acts of retribution literally rule the King of Prurient Interest.
Trump has no conception of asymmetrical warfare, even though American’s hubris in relation to it, has created the current situation and the continued outfall from Vietnam, two Gulf Wars, Afghanistan, Syria and Venezuela. So, when Donnie isn’t up his neck involved in raping little girls, it’s no surprise that his inability to comprehend a strategy, ‘any strategy’ in relation to attacking Iran, has created the current situation.
Group think, and the sycophants that surround him has inured Trump to any form of criticism. “Might is Right”, will be America’s downfall, because intractable wars, started to enhance one’s greed and avariciousness, usually end in emasculation, loss and death, as clearly illustrated by America’s history since 1964 at best.
The United States has failed at providing any rational reason to continue its actions against Iran, whether prodded by Israel or not.
What it has likely guaranteed is that for Iran’s regime, the only safe harbour may be in mandating the creation of nuclear weapons, the antithesis of Israel’s aims when this war began, at least if one is to believe a convicted Israeli War Criminal according to the ICC.
Trump’s Prison of Ignorance and Hubris
Trump’s options range from poor to catastrophic, and they are completely of his and Bibi Netanyahu’s own doing.
A ground invasion is fraught with horrific possibilities. Major loss of both Iranian and American lives, first. There might well be a massive destabilization of the Gulf region that would embolden new factions, all hating America to spring into life. There is also the likelihood that America would, once again, be sucked into the vortex of attempting to control a population that progressively would blame America for its damage, loss of life and a future destroyed by instability and war.
And as well, the law of unintended consequences may mean that Iran will strike as many oil and gas installations in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Kuwait and the UAE to turn the whole region and its oil into a massive funeral pyre.
The reality?
America can effectively not do much to stop it, including the long-term probability of Iran maintaining the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, Iran can keep the Strait closed until America leaves and concedes to remove all sanctions, as well as pay reparations for the billions and billions of damage it has caused in Iran.
As Roth states;
“Ironically, Iran is probably in a stronger negotiating
position today than it was before the Trump-Netanyahu war of aggression.”
The Ones Who Will Suffer the Most
Of course, US actions almost guarantee that the US will suffer acts of terrorism in the future. You cannot willfully and with malice, attack a nation of 92 million people and not expect a highly angry and dedicated response of retribution in return.
America has likely, once again, kicked over a fundamentalist nest of yellow jackets.
Were I Iranian, what might I do in response for the killing of my family, the loss of my life’s work, my home and my future?
Acting With Impunity and Arrogance
America acts against other nations without any sense of empathy, logic, or rationality. It has lost its humanity. In fact, it acts maliciously to hurt any and all that are the ‘others’. However, the reality is that it will pay a massive price in the future for its arrogance, ignorance and willful acts of murder.
I truly believe that America is headed for particularly dark times, — for once you take away a person’s fear to act in return and instil hatred in its place, the future can well become a dark and foreboding place indeed.
And a jihadist is not worried about survival in this life.
America has sown the wind, and will reap the whirlwind.
